How can i reset the insertion plane of a skylight. The skylight sits completley proud of a tiled pitched roof, but yet in reality, a small bevel/section of frame is seen above the roof line. I dont want to create an oriel type skylight.

The only way I have ever found to get the result I want is to create two layers of roof. One roof is the 'structural part' which the skylight is inserted in to and the second layer is the 'finish' part that I cut a hole in for the skylight to project through.

I do the same as Lee, but you don't have to be too precious about the quality or accuracy of the plan view as AC doesn't layer up as expected e.g. the slates can overlay the roof light on plan if correct on section, or you make the slate hole bigger in which case the section is wrong.
