Smoothing geometry for Google Warehouse object imports?

Not applicable
When importing objects from Google Sketchup the result in ArchiCAD is always really faceted/triangulated-looking regardless of whether the edges were first smoothed in Sketchup. This is fine for rectilinear shapes but not so much for shapes with warped surfaces.

A similar topic was discussed in this thread:

However the strategy was based around manipulating the 2D symbolic view of the object in Section/Elevation.

I've noticed that the smoothing function of the mesh tool translates to GDL library parts when saved. Does anyone have any magical ideas for communicating the Google Sketchup geometry to a mesh (maybe as a contour map) that can then be smoothed?

Does anyone have any other bright ideas for simplifying the resulting appearance of Google Warehouse object imports in section/elevation view?

When was an object imported from 3D Studio, DWG or SketchUp ever parametric in ArchiCAD?
Never.

Now you can import them from these formats, tidy them up so they look good both in 2D and 3D, resave them as GDL and have Material, Fill, Line type and Pen parameters available.

So what are you guys saying? If it is a joke, I don't get is so please someone explain.

This "joke" was only for the few GDL lovers.
The Morph tool is absolutely fantastic, and the ability to clean and enhance the "dumb" imported objects is a giant step forward.
I'm only scared about the evenience to see the BIMcomponents library so full of semi-dumb objects. Parametricity is the core... or the soul of GDL. We are prepared to have thousand of -maybe good- objects (or will we call them "blocks"?) and -in percentage- even less "true-GDL" elements.

Google 3D warehouse is an excellent place to find something you need. But how much garbage and really unusable objects there are? I hope Graphisoft has an efficient way to manage the quality (not relaying only in some "I like" procedure from users).

With my poor English I can't go deeper... sorry.

OK, I get it now.
There will be quality check. Both automatic when files are uploaded and also by GS employees. This is why it will take up to 24 hours for Objects to appear on the site after submission.
I too hope that quality will be kept to a good high standard.
