Straw Bale Wall?

Anonymous
Not applicable
Hello,

I'm working on a straw bale home. I'm trying to do the windows and doors with an inset on the inner side. See the attached photos. Is there a way to do this? The windows in AC9 want to make the frame 2' wide, I'd like it to be 6".

Thanks,
Rich

under the window's 'frame' parameter settings there is an option to set the frame depth to match the wall. turn this off and you'll be able to set any frame width you need.

looks like you may find the niche objects useful too . . .

Ben,

Thanks for the help, but that doesn't seem to work either. The result is below.

This is using the Niche and turning off the frame width option.

you need to turn the trim/threshold/sill/board/wall reference lines off as well . . .

you could always 'build' the internal wall structure separately to the external bales and put the windows within that. (presumably there's going to be some kind of framing on the internal side?)

then build (or use archiWALL or other accessories) the bales onto the outside, using niches or 'empty' holes within them?

rule of thumb - build it in archiCAD the way it's going to be built on the 1:1 model . . .
