Transferring parameter settings from one object to another

This has probably been covered sometime before on the list but I couldn't find it:

If I have two objects with identical parameters but different names, (old version and new updated version of same object), is there a simple way to transfer the parameter settings of placed instances of the old object to a new object that is placed to replace the old one?

I tried the eyedropper, but it changes the entire new object to a copy of the old one (with the old name).

Doing these object replacements longhand gets a bit tedius.
cheers

Use the eyedropper inside the settings dialog. Not in the floor plan. To prevent parameters from this value transfer they can be locked by the U-button before there declaration in the parameter list of the object. (Edit window) So it may not work for each parameter.

Gidday Daniel!

I'm back in the country now, so I'll have to swing by for another visit!

If I understand your question correctly, I think you should be able to achieve that by injecting the preview of the library part *within the Object Settings dialog*. This injects the matching parameters of the current object into the one you want. Just be sure to inject before you click on the preview.

Hope that addresses it.

Cheers,
Link.
