i just tried the following:-
1)selected the window.
2)clicked settings dialog
3)selected w double sash 12 type window.
4)clicked model.
5)uncheked used object's material.
6)changed the material fromWD-pine vertical towd wallnut horizontal.
7)clicked ok
but here the whole window changed including the glass. i want to change each part (frames,glass)with a seperate material.

For a complex library object you can override the object's materials with a single material (as you have done).
To maintain the different materials for each part of the object re-checkuse objects materials and edit the objects material in the 3D Parameters window or the dialogue (toggle materials/fills rather than geometry at the top of each section).

you want this checked.. not unchecked.. if its unchecked the whole object will be one material
