window sills on plans

Anonymous
Not applicable
this happened globally to all window and doors on a plan >>> all my window sills and casings, as well as door thresholds and casings that were displaying on the floor plan are no longer displaying.

i have inadvertently selected something that made them go away. the sill and casing elements also do not display in the window selection settings preview window. i do have things set correctly in the model view options.

couple of things could be to blame:

1. your windows are 'scale sensitive' but the drawing scale is such that the window is only displaying as 'simple'

2. you are missing the macros folder from your loaded library. this second one sounds like it could be the culprit since the macros folder contains the individual window components that the window tool assembles. if they're not displaying in 3D the chances are it can't find the components.

have you modified your library? are you working from a saved-PLA library by any chance? reload your libraries with the default archicad library loaded and see if that makes a difference . . .

thanks. it was item #1 in your conjour of possibilities. i did find that on my own with a bit of searching and testing but i appreciate the reply. finding those out on your own is a hugh confidence building maneuver though and give strength to forge on (being afairly recent AC convert form -dare i say - autocad.

here's my latest stumbling block >> created new dimension standard via PREFS / DIMENSIONS that sets dims to 1/2" min rounding. each time i set it for the floor planit is OK until i leave the plan and come back; then it has reset to 1/16"?

saved dimension 'standards' are saved with your VIEW . . . along with scale, layer combination, model view options, etc.

the nasty thing about saved views is that by default only the bare minimum of information about them is displayed at the bottom of the navigator . . .

look out for other things such as transparency (yes, the '3D window settings...' also affect section/elevation transparency! ), filtered 3D elements and cutting planes coming back to haunt you if they inadvertently get saved with a view. your dimension standards will stick if you are navigating through the project using the project map, but for them to take effect in saved views you will need to modify your view settings...

welcome to the jungle . . !
