3D Explore no longer moves up/down in elevation

When in the 3D Explore mode I used to be able to point the mouse "up" and then use the arrow key and move up in space as I moved forward. However now it will only "look" up and move forward without changing elevation. What has happened and how do I return to the previous mode?

Press the letter 'f' when in 3d mode to toggle between horizontal 'walking' and free flight.

"F" puts you into "Explore" mode. What I'm describing is that when I'm already in "Explore" mode (i.e. free flight), I can't change the elevation of the camera. Any thoughts? Just all of a sudden though, it used to "fly" just fine. now it just "walks" but can still "look" up and down, just not "fly" up or down.

F is not really a toggle as such, but you can hold it down while in Orbit mode to lock the camera height.

That means it will remain at the same elevation while F is pressed - good for moving parallel to the ground (assuming the ground is flat).

Letting go of F will free the camera's elevation constraint and it will act like you're on a roller coaster!

Cheers,

Hmm, it works as a toggle on mine, and it remembers its last setting!

In 3d explore mode, I just press it once to switch to either horizontal walk mode, or fly around mode. I don't have to hold any thing down.

I can also confirm that holding F down in orbit mode does absolutely nothing for me! Maybe you have your keys mapped differently? Mine are completely standard.

Does the button at the bottom of the window toggle on and off as you repeatedly press F?

Yes, of course you are right. It is a toggle and I should have recalled that in my haste.

Time for a break!

Thanks,

(Sleep deprivation already )
Page Up and Page Down will change your elevation in 3D Explore mode, if that's what you want.
