hi,
anyone know how i can split my site model along a contour line?
i would like to have different materials each 'side' of the height/contour line.
when i try it splits in a straight line across the site, not along the curved contour.

The "Split" command only works with a straight line to define a vertical cutting plane.

The simplest way do do what you want is to make a copy of the site and subtract alternate parts from each.

If you need even more control of your surface materials, ArchiTerra allows you to paint sections of the mash (as well as lots of other cool things that are difficult or impossible with the built in mesh tool).

Yet another method is to use a texture map with the mesh surface material which you can then paint and decorate any way you like in Photoshop (or whatever).

you don't actually need to split the mesh to achieve what you want; i outlined a method i use in this thread (http://archicad-talk.graphisoft.com/viewtopic.php?t=30630&view=previous&sid=c2fd2f78881418c1ccb5a2fece080b9b) which utilises SEOs to achieve different material textures on the surface of a mesh.
