heya, is there anywhere to find a detail object libary in the programme or to download. basically looking to build my own detail from scratch - such as insulation, stone masonary etc, the things you would find in a section.
can this be done in this programme?

Have a look at the Detailer Library under 01 General. I'm assuming that it's still there in v11.
where is that located?
Graphisoft, in their infinite wiseness, (I assume something to do with metric/imperial conversion), have decided not to include the detailer library in the INT version of ArchiCAD.
Right - this is only in the US / North American version. Part of it was no doubt originally a business decision - the library was developed by a 3rd party in the US (MSA) and was purchased from them with the US budget AFAIK.

But, a large number (majority?) of the parts are not parametric, but rather 2D symbols that were drawn to Imperial unit specifications. The only way to convert them to metric or to a non-US manufacturer would be to redraw them all. A lot of work and $$. Even the parametric ones have pre-defined Imperial sizes - and so would involve work to make useful for metric users. A big project any way you look at it.

ASFAIK the lumber sizes are not correct for the 4x_ and larger timbers for everything above a 6" nominal height. They are all 1/4" shy.

Are your 4x8s actually 3 1/2 x 7 1/2"? All the ones I've seen are 7 1/4" just like the 2x8s. AFAIK 7 1/4" (etc.) is also the ANSI spec.

You're probably right about the 4x8. I see NDS has it listed as 3/4" less than nominal. But we must getting ours from a local mill as they are all 3-1/2"x7-1/2".
What I meant was that the 6x_, 8X_, etc. are all off 1/4". They should be 1/2" less than nominal. Just another little thing that irks.

Yep, your right about the bigger timbers. Good catch. The only times I've timbers that big they were custom milled. I didn't know about the difference 'til now. Thanks.
