Basic icons in 8.1

hi, i was just wondering what the icon in the bottom right corner of the screen is marked in red.

I know A is how much space remaining on the hard drive but what does B represent.

It tells you how much free physical memory you have. If you click on it, it shown you how much free total memory you have (physical plus virtual on your hard drive). Clicking again shows free physical again and so on.
