Hello guys,
i usually try to figure everything out on my own, but this time I've already spent too much time on it 😞
I’d like to create a wall composition using the Profile tool based on this example (https://www.contrabim.com/blog/creating-complex-profile-offset-modifiers-in-walls), but somehow it’s not working for me.
The problem is with the thicknesses of individual layers. I can’t get them to stay connected. When I reduce the thickness of the insulation, the plaster layer expands instead of moving along with it. The tutorial demonstrates exactly this, but it doesn’t work for me. I also don’t see the message "Define the positive direction for Edge offset" in the status bar.
What are your experiences with layer thicknesses and offset modifiers in Complex Profiles?
What am I doing wrong?
Thank you,
best regards,
Rok
Operating system used: Windows 10 22H2

Sounds like you only have one edge of your plaster skin associated to the insulation modifier.
You need both sides of the plaster to be associated with the insulation width modifier.
Sometimes I find it easier to separate all of the profile fills to make it easier to associate the modifiers.
Then just pull all the fills back to their correct position before you save the profile.
Moving the fills won't affect how the modifiers work - they remember what they are connected to.
Barry.

Thank you, Berry,
that was exactly the problem. I can't correctly select all edges using the TAB key, but if I first slightly separate the layers to define the active edges, select them, and then move them back together, everything works as it should. Thanks again.
