ERROR MESSAGES?

I KEEP GETTING ALL KINDS OF ERROR MESSAGES WHEN TRY TO CUT A SECTION THROUGH A STAIR....WHY?! I DONT THINK I'M DOING ANYTHING WRONG, AND I HAVE TO CLICK CONTINUE A MILLION TIMES BEFORE I CAN SEE THE SECTION....IS THERE SOMETHING I'M DOING WRONG, I GET THIS ALL THE TIME ON DIFFERENT FILES?

this happens a lot of times when you are changing the parametrs of an object regardless if its a stair a window or a couch. archicad tells you that youve done sth that cannot be done. for example you cannot make a couch have zero width. you changed sth to your stair that is not correct. you are using the stairs that are library parts right? you dont make your own ones by stair maker or archistair?
