Glass Transparency in Elevations

Can someone clarify exactly what causes glass to be see-through in an elevation or opaque?

it depends upon the 'transparency in shading' setting in your 3D window settings:

Image>3D Window Settings...

Thanks - read the help files and while it discusses glass transparency it doesn't seem to explicitly say how glass is controlled in elevation views.
