Historic builings in particular features

At some of my previous workplaces the decision was made not to 3d model historic buildings but just to work in 2D.

I assume others model listed buildings?

Because we are doing also a nice extension I decided to model the house. Now I am getting to the entrance door and I am wondering how to all model all this.

Any advise or samples people can share to help me get the best strategy?

Segmented columns, complex profile beam for the arch and custom made door object for the door, frame and fanlight.

I find that modelling it the same way it was built by a carpenter can help you work it out.

Having worked a lot on listed buildings in 3D I also make choices about which elements are important to model precisely and which are less important that you can just use simple representations fot
