How do I turn off the Grid display UNIVERSALLY? and...

Every window I open shows the grid, which I prefer not to see. In AC9, I turned it off once, and it stayed off.

Also, here is a minor one. Every time I launch AC 10, it opens an untitled project. It doesn't give me the old front menu of launching a new project, opening an existing project, etc. How do I get the old front menu back?

grids:
View>Grid Display

remember that the grid status gets saved by project: if someone else has turned it back on and saved the file, it will be on again next time you open it . . . and teamworked files are a whole other story . . .

startup dialogue:
you must have ticked the 'do not display this dialogue next time' box. in the interests of trying to help you out, i've un-ticked mine and can't for the life of me find out how to turn it back on again! i'm sure that there used to be an option in either the work environment or project preferences . . . maybe i can't see it for looking?! help!

having searched through the work environment, project preferences and plist files (registry), a quick call to tech support revealed that the only way to turn the start-up dialogue back on is a new and reset.

absolutely marvellous: either they forgot to include the 'on' button or forgot to take away the 'off' button. whatever the case, it's a bloody poor effort.

new and reset . . . now to extend all those object-based tool dialogues so that i can read the parameter names . . . . again.

ArchiCAD 9 has a preference named Enable all information messages that can be dissabled in WE-->Dialog Boxes & Palettes. Gone in 10 apparently.

apparently so.

Two years later, i find myself visiting this old post.

i must have accidentally clicked the "don't show this box again", and the note at the bottom of the work environment menu didn't bring it back.

Anyway, how do I get the original opening dialog box back without re-installing?

Alternatively, I find that if I double click on the file, it opens without an untitled file.

Thanks.
