How to: incline crown moulding? Any help or ideas please.

Hello everybody, I just joined the forum.
I am on a 30 day trial of ArchiCAD for Mac and I am loving it!
I have hit a road block though, I can't seem to figure out how to make the crown trim at the tops of the walls go up at an inclined angle over the front of the entrance. You can see in the attached images I was able to get a little square piece go up at an angle, but the crown has me stumped..
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

does objective allow the profiles to follow curves?
You can curve a profile and attach other profiles to it; cleaned by use of Split. I like this method better since I have more control on creativity and options.

While Objective is a great add-on, it's still an add-on that costs and extra $300 plus the added overhead of administering it (and the possibility of it lagging behind future Archicad updates).

True it is an add-on and I hate add-ons because of the API they may have and more than anything else the big "LAGGING BEHIND FUTURE ARCHICAD UPDATES".

But there is a BIG but about Objective "Encina":

1. It is firstly object based with API coming along the ride; meaning: If objective is not loaded as long as you have the library of objects you have created and library of Steel and Timber of Objective, in any version, you do not loose your work (unlike an API driven add-on like ArchiStair). Also once you have loaded a new version you can update all the old objects on you plans to the new version with all the new features, capable with the old objects.

2. Tech Support is 2nd to none, Ralph is always answering, and on top of that any "possible" bugs are fixed with in a day or two, max. Any new suggestions are either implemented within few days if small or if big, with in months and not versions & versions.
3. I rather Graphisoft not to get hold of this add-on since it may end up neglected like some of their other tools. Would gladly pay for this or any other add-on that does not leave me hanging. This is cost of good quality software, support & care for our well being, in a professional and personal level.
Thanks,
Joseph

It's all About geometry!

You'll need to determine 2 angles:
1) Connecting angle in plan
2) The projection angle of the tilted crown in line with the plane that is perpenticular to 1/2 of the connecting angle in plane. (assuming both crown has same height)

Even if you have all the addon at you disposure, it's going to be tough!

All of these limitations are due to ANCIENT "TUBE" command!

Agree with all that Joseph has said.
99% of my queries have been answered within 24hrs.

(Unlike someone else who has acknowledged a bug in his SZ
but has yet to deliver a fix)

OBJECTiVE is more than just a single tool.

Joseph, as always I'm a slow thinker, so I have to ask to clarify:

I take it you mean that
- objects created or modified with the Objective add-on still work when the addon is not loaded (unlike for example Archistair where the add-on has to be loaded at all times)
- this means that objects created this way can be exported along with their projects to other machines and still work without Objective
- and it also means that the objects will still work if you upgrade your Archicad (unless GS breaks old GDL objects for some reason)
- and you also maintain that support is excellent!

May I ask if somebody knows if it works as well with the INT version?
(if so, i don't have any excuse left for not buying, I guess)

Hej Thomas, see attached. I am using INT version.
Part saved in 11 and this pic taken after AddOn removed.
I have even opened the part and tweaked the materials.
The part created will stand alone in your project library.
Spend your hard earned, you will not be disappointed.

1st question was answered by Rod.

2nd my experiences has been that the GDL objects created by Objective have not been broken by GS but the add-ons API's yes, gets broken which Ralph takes care of them (maybe Ralph could explain this better)

3rdly yes support is excellent and again that is one of many reasons that I rather have Objective as an add-on and pay gladly for it.

Persist. Read the manual carefully.
Once you see how it works you will use it.
All rotation degrees must be positive.
You must select and save the object first.
Place the newly created object.
Select this object in order to rotate.
I name the new part ar(original part name)
and save to the project library.

Yes. OBJECTiVE provides and creates completely standard GDL objects which do not require the add-on to be present. You will find it much harder to edit the objects though - the add-on provides a lot of assistance to make complex 3D modelling easy (which is the whole point).

Yes. They can be fully archived and retrieved without the add-on too.

Yes.

Again, yes.
