On the german archiforum.info site is a discussion about the MacIntel ArchiCAD beta version and how well it is running.
Too bad do not understand German, but I know their soccer; does that count.

Anyone has used AC10 on MacBook 13" (mactel) yet?

Joseph,

i've been using it on a 2ghz macbook with 1gig ram for as-builts on site, though i'm actually running it via parallels on win xp - convoluted but running great. the integrated graphics still can pump out a decent frame rate with a fully modeled single family home in a 3d openGL window and the processor is so fast that it can actually pump out hidden line perspectives without dropping to wireframe all the time (if you move slowly). all in all i'm definitely happy with it, but looking forward to running it natively on os x.

as an aside one thing that i've been surprised with is that i actually like the AC interface better in windows (though not windows its self) the way the pallets dock to the sides is far superior (IMHO) than the mac sticky pallet interface. much quicker to resize / reorganize things. though i miss having expose on the small screen to flip between drawings. hope this helps, let me know if you have any specific questions about the setup.

one thing to keep in mind is if you are considering using it in the office dual monitor use with parallels does not seem to work to well, though this should not be an issue when the universal version of AC comes out.

So Parallels has been working for you? I bought it but haven't installed yet since I read that the video drivers are generic and slow. I was also disappointed to find that it can't use my existing WinXP partition that I use with Boot Camp. I'd like to switch to Parallels if the video performance is good enough. (I guess I'll probably just have to find a way to make room on my hard drive for the WinXP disk image - it's amazing how fast 120GB fills up.)

hard to say how much of a hit the video drivers are taking with paralles. i can say that it is perfectly usable, though i would guess it'll be allot faster with native driver support (though i'm not sure if having the integrated video circuitry does anything to bypass the issue with the dedicated graphics cards of the mbp & imac). it'll be interesting doing a side by side with the new mactell version to get a sense for what type of penalty is being inflicted by parallels.

i must say i love being able to switch back and forth between windows and os x. i don't have boot-camp installed, and probably will go back to using ac on mac os now that it's native (even though i prefer the interface on the windows version of AC), so the lack of video acceleration in parallels is not a big deal for me (though i did notice that it is something they are working on for a future release)
