Log Questions - Flared Butt (posts, beams, and walls)

Anonymous
Not applicable
I have seen other users develop there program to give flexibility to have flared butt posts, beams, wall logs, etc...also staggering ends and different style end cuts (beaver, random stagger, etc)

Thus far I have not found that information in my log home solutions or Archicad (version 9)

Who made these, and how do I make them or where do I buy them!

Thanks!

I have found that I need to be creative when it comes to log features. However the Log Home Solution library includes "Log Purlins, and Log Rafters" which I use quite a bit. They have different end cuts in the options tab. As far as staggered tails go. I've tried a couple of different things. Solid Element operations, or I have made log walls 1 course high @ different lengths and stacked them (just for the tail section, I still use normal log walls for the actual walls).

Most of the add-on stuff I have looked at or tried, usually does almost what I want it to. I'm usually left disappointed. So I have found that it is better to just try to find a creative solution in ArchiCad. Although AC10 has a lot of potential with the profiled walls for half log siding and some of the strange things we do with wall profiles. (If we manage to get the window issues with profiled walls figured out).

Good Luck

It is simple to insert a GDL object INTO the wall element or column to simulate flaring and other organic irregularities.

RULED is your command.

Draw a bulbous shape, copy it, shrink it, rotate it a little.

In the GDL script, (use the reference manual for… reference)
you can easily establish parametrics for the height and scaling of the transmogrification.

The attached image shows three parametric variations on the same script.
