Modeling a Metal Railing / Gate

I am looking to model a Metal gate like the image attached and others.
What is the best way to go about the modeling?

Yo, Jay:

Make the modules from a complex profile.
Use in a wall 1" thick placed perpendicular to the direction of the gate or guard.

The little blobby doo-dahs could be tiny circular complex profiles.

1. Truss Maker (only linear elements).....In Model View design your rail with lines, polylines with different colors (each color represent a different profile or dimension of it). Lines are axis of the rail elements!

So Dwight,
Are you saying to model a complex profile of the say 8" length of guard (repetitive portion) then draw walls 1" long perpendicular to the Guard/rail direction. And then multiply this wall to get the length of guard/rail that I want?

Yup. Youse got a problem with that, buster?

Maybe make a module...... or even go so far as an object if it is extensive.

In your case, the complex profile wall is going to have several grouped components since the image shows some round bits, too.
