One colleague said: 'But it was like that in release 14!' while another didn't know what I was talking about, because his hadn't changed!
When we all compared our versions, some of us have this feature : some of us don't. So there must be an option somewhere.
Does anyone know where to find it?

That is all controlled by the menu section in the work environment.
Since at least 14 the first "Open" in the file menu is actually another menu rather than the file open command.

So do I have to figure out how to customize my menus?
It's very confusing, for me this was not the case in Release 14
For my colleague #1 it was the case in Release 14 also
For my colleague #2 it was not the case in Rel 14, and is not the case in Rel 16.
Neither of my colleagues have customized their menus!
Maybe I'll just get into the habit of using Apple-O!

Sounds like some of you may have been using an old Work Environment from a previous version.
You get an option to import the previous WE when installing.
Yes if you want to change it then you will need to edit your WE.
Or import and old WE from a previous version (you will need to export it from the old version first), but then you will not have the new commands for 16.
Barry.

Of course! That will be it. We all import our own WE's from previous versions, and the default menu structure isn't one that I tamper with (although it looks like I must have done so in some version prior to ver 14).
Thanks very much for your help, Barry.
