1) Most of plugins could be made using VB. Why is that good? I guess you know the answer. VB for apps is simple, interpreted, does not require an external compiler....
2) The most obvious things one could do is add interactivity to object creation. You can draw with GDL But you cannot get feedback from the user. You cannot ask him to give a point(s) or pick objects or... everything you could do in autocad with autolisp since before christ
3) In gdl i cannot even tell the user, select a polyline and then read what ever info i want from that polyline and draw for example something in 3d.
4) For example select a column read its geometry and add reinforcement. This is very simple if only i could read the selected columns geometric information
5) Gdl is very limited if you dont have interactivity AND if you cannot read the geometric properties of selected data.
Very powerful objects that interact with other objects.

Having for example visual basic for apps for AC will boost productivity 1000%, users can create very powerful utilities.

Frankly, these things would be done using the Application Developers Kit for ArchiCAD, which is not VB but C++. Yes, it is compiled and yes it is complex, but it is currently available, at no cost for the developer / end user.
