!Restored: Upgrade Pricing form AC 11 To 12 around the world.

Brett Brown

Hi, I would be interested in the Prices Graphisoft are charging around the world for normal upgrades from AC 11 to 12 and the subscription price as well.

I have seen the USA prices lately where you had a special of 595 US from the normal 895 US, lucky you's, that was subscription right? How much is just normal upgrade? (I tried to get one but of course they wouldn't play ball)

Here in NZ the normal upgrade is 1336 US and the subscription 1275 US.

Also I see some high profile users here in NZ use the International version. How does that work? How much are you paying? and if it is cheaper than the NZ version upgrade, where can I get one?

Perhaps someone can let me know why we are paying so much more from the same company, for the same software. It's only a DVD and manual, and as someone else mentioned it could be just a download.

License transer fee US$946 - yes you read it right - a massive US$471 more than the cost in the US.
How Graphisoft Australia can justify such a price difference for license transfer i don't know, but it is one of the many reasons why i have not yet been able to buy a license. A grand just to have the dongle number registered to my name!
that's if you buy one second-hand though, right? if you bought a current, new license direct from your local reseller you surely don't have to pay to 'transfer' anything . . .

Correct. The license transfer applies to buying a second hand license, but since Brett was asking about prices i thought i'd chuck that one in as it severly s***'s me that we pay double the US price (for someone to spend 30 seconds changing a small piece of information on a database somewhere).

I am not one to defend sales attitudes, but for the brief time i sold Archicad, before eBay was a common way to be rid of excess Archicads, there were several instances where guys wanted me to sell their old Archicad licenses and not take a commission equal to my selling a new license. It is simple business: why waste a lead that has taken time to develop?

And so it is with the transfer fee - merely a shadow of compensation for a real sale, lost.

The fact that Graphisoft allows transfers at all - at any price - is something we should be grateful for, since a software license is exactly that - an intellectual property license, not a refrigerator.

??

In Belgium you are charged zero euro license transfer fee.
I guess most of the second-hand licenses for sale are suspended anyway (no more upgrade) and having a new owner means $$

On the other hand you have the local market playing.
- Belgium has a small (active) user base so every user counts !

I paid Indian Rs 34000/- ($900 approx) for ArchiCAD 10 18 months back under a promotional offer. What the upgrade cost would be now ?
