See/ edit display order number of elements

Is there any chance to see the display order number of an element?
Is there some hidden parameter where this order number can be edited?

'Element Information' will show you the display order, but will not allow you to edit it.
As far as I know, the only way to change it is with the display order - but that doesn't tell you what level it is at.
