Slower ArchiCad

For some reason my computer runs very slow in ArchiCad (10 or 11). I have a MAC OSX (Version 10.4.11) Dual 2 GHz Power PC G5 3.5 GB DDR SDRAM. I've been using ArchiCad since ArchiCad 6 ( I tried all the series), and for the past 3 years I've been using MAC.

It gets really annoying when on a small house project I have to wait for a few seconds every time I scroll, or do anything.... I just checked my file and it has 3.5 MB. Is that normal??? Is just a house. Do fonts, or additional library make the ArchiCad run slower????

What can I do to verify if I don't have any errors in my file???

I can merely commiserate since i have the same hardware [down to the miserly keeping the original ram and adding to fill the slots hence the odd 3.5 Gb RAM] configuration and Archicad 11 is infuriatingly hesitant as you describe. Nothing i do seems to fix it. The thing just dithers except on the smallest of models.

This year's architectural job was a complex heritage house renovation with lots of woody bits. Infuriating beach ball! Good thing there's downloads to watch on the laptop.

This machine is tops everywhere else. I get the new one next week and hope for better luck.

I’ve found a remarkable slow down of AC10 once version 11 was installed.
It occurs only when I have AC10 and AC11 running the same time on MacIntel (I didn’t try WINXP so far).
I don’t think it has to do with RAM memory because I can have 3 or more AC10 instances running perfectly next to each other.

Please let us know if you have a solution

My set up seems to be identical to yours (see my signature), and I do not have the problem you describe. Not much help, but tells you the problem is not universal with this set up. You might want to quit applications or disable other third party background features to see if you can discover the culprit.
