License Delivery maintenance is expected to occur on Saturday, November 30, between 8 AM and 11 AM CET. This may cause a short 3-hours outage in which license-related tasks: license key upload, download, update, SSA validation, access to the license pool and Graphisoft ID authentication may not function properly. We apologize for any inconvenience.

The Trimble revolution televised

Has anybody been watching Trimble's acquisitions ?

You've seen that they bought Sketchup ?

They most recently acquired VICO which many of you will know as previous Archicad tools sold off to former employees who started the offshoot.
see: http://www.trimble.com/news/release.aspx?id=110212a

Trimble is moving to cover the entire AEC platform. Of course they're already a large footprint in surveyingGPS covering a range of fields besides just construction.
They've even acquired a european drone company. Their strategy is obviously to integrate the entire process .. from design straight through to execution on the job site.

But the missing link is a solid BIM platform. (sorry VICO)

I think archicad should be their next purchase to pull together the whole packaged offering. ( VICO can go back into AC)

I emailed Bryn Fosburgh (bryn_fosburgh@trimble.com) at Trimble suggesting such. Trimble has the resources to stomp Autodesk.

Anyone like the idea ?

How can we encourage it

It's time that AC stops being the step-child.

Maybe suggest Trimble buy Nemetschek as a whole?

It does raise another question since Graphisoft is owned by another company. What value has been brought to ArchiCAD/Graphisoft since they became a subsidiary? Maybe a different owner (ei, Trimble) would do more with connecting and integrating ArchiCAD with the rest of their software portfolio?

Someone smart than me said:

"a small company can strike with innovated products. But it takes a large company to hold the ground.

If AC could be bought by Trimble it could have better chances.
