About the Renovation Feature

• Element-level Definition of Renovation Status
  • No need to create extra layers: just set a default Renovation Status (Existing, New, To Be Demolished) for all element types.
  • Switch Renovation Status of any/all selected elements with a single click.
• Renovation Related Plan Types Out of the Box
  • Renovation Filters available out of the box (e.g. Existing Plan, Demolition Plan, New Construction).
  • Renovation Filters show, hide, or override elements depending on their status.
  • Switch among Renovation Filters to display the project at various renovation stages.
  • Redefine or create new Renovation Filters to fit your office standard.

Tips

Turn on Renovation Palette Use the Renovation Palette to assign a Renovation Status to any number of selected elements, or to set a default status for all elements. The Renovation Palette can be opened from Window > Palettes > Renovation Palette.

Quick Options Palette From the Quick Options palette, click the desired filter from the Renovation Filter pop-up to assign to the View.

Change Element Default Status Before placing more elements conserning to the same Renovation Status, change the default status on Renovation Palette. These buttons can be used to change the current status of the placed elements.

Tags and Categories In Element Settings dialog the Renovation Status and Show On Filter options can be uniquely changed for every elements.

Show on current Renovation Filter only Use this function to restrict the display of any element to a certain Filter - so that the element is visible only in a particular view filter.

Override Renovation Styles Override Styles define what this Override should look like for each Renovation Status: the override style can include line and fill types and colors as well as (in the 3D window) a material.

Best Practices

Save Filter Options with Project Template Renovation Filter Options are stored with the project. Save the project as a template file, then use that template when creating new projects to ensure that your preferred renovation options are available by default.

Export Configured Filter Options to Another Computer From the Renovation Filter Options dialog box, export your preferred settings as an XML file. You can then import this file to be able to use your Renovation Filter Options on another machine.

Creating Views for the documentation Once you have defined Renovation Statuses for your elements, and you have adjusted the Renovation Filter options to your liking, just apply the desired Renovation Filter. Save with the view. Your published Drawings will thus reflect the settings of your Renovation Filters.

Export Renovation Status - DWG, IFC Saving a project in DWG, elements can be automatically sorted onto different layers depending on their renovation status. Saving a project in IFC, WYSIWYG logic prevails: if the element is shown in the current Renovation filter, then it is exported to IFC. If it is hidden, then it is not exported.

Back-saving an ARCHICAD15 Renovation project As you back-save an ARCHICAD 15 project to ARCHICAD 14, the elements in the project will lose their Renovation Status and override displays. After clicking the Options button in the Save as... dialog box, you can choose the Renovation Filter with which you want to back-save the project.

Opening an ARCHICAD14 project in ARCHICAD15 By default, non-renovation elements from ARCHICAD14 version and before are placed with Existing Renovation Status in ARCHICAD15. Note: if you use the template of a Renovation project which stores Renovation Filter Options, some elements of the ARCHICAD14 project might be invisible in ARCHICAD15. It can happen if the existing elements are overridden by additional Filter Options or by Renovation Styles. Please check your Renovation Filter Options.

Workflows for Tricky Renovation Situations

Adding Insulation to Walls If you want to add a layer of insulation to an existing wall, you simply add an insulation skin to the composite wall. However, you cannot assign “New” status to just a single component of a wall - only to the wall itself. To distinguish (for Renovation Filter purposes) the new insulation added to the original wall. Hello everybody, 

does any of you know how set up Line thickness of Composite at Opening window? I have existing composite wall and one to be demolished window and one new window (pic01). When I set the end line of the composite as 0.1 mm (pic02) and show the view as New Construction filter, there are still one line which has original thickness (pic3).

Is there any possibility how change only line thickness between new part of the wall and existing part?
