Trace & Reference Splitter

Hi All,
I would like to use the splitter and draw back an upper floor from the reference floor below but without showing the reference floor as a ghost through the upper floor.
I wonder if anybody could advise how this can be done.
Thanks

If I understand you correctly, you want to display the trace reference as the original colours, not as a single faded 'ghost' colour.

Try clicking the button next to the slider for the reference colour. Then select 'Original Colour'.

If that doesn't help, please post some further details of what you require.

Hi Peter,
No the problem is that I want to use the splitter as if I have a paper copy of an upper plan over the top of a paper copy of a lower plan and then just pull back the upper plan to reveal the lower. The problem is that as I see it you can only use it as if the upper plan is on tracing paper which means that when you look down on the upper layer you see the ghost or coloured up lower plan - this can be too much information and confusing.
Don't misunderstand me I think the ghosted reference is really useful but not in conjunction with the splitter.
Have I managed to convey the problem now I wonder ? I hope so because I'd really like to use the splitter this way.
Rgds and thanks

I think I understand you now!

Does setting the reference to be 'Above/Below Current Story' not do what you want? You can also toggle the reference display to the front or to the back by clicking on the button to the left of the splitter button.

As I sort of said before, you can change the colour of the reference to be anything you want - even its original colours. You can also select what items you want displayed on the reference by clicking the little arrow to the right of the reference slider. Use the slider to make the reference completely opaque or transparent as well.

I hope that gets you closer to what you want!

The workaround would be to set the ghost color as original and then place a paper behind the upper plan, that is a solid white fill behind everything on that storey. This works fine here just as you describe your wish. Place the fill on its own layer so you can turn it off when you want.
