Winder Stair in AC21

Like most, I was very happy to see the new stair and railing tools. I'm completely baffled, however, on how to create the illustrated winder stair. I've tweaked every setting I can find without the proper result. Anybody worked with the tool enough to have an idea?

Thanks, Brett. Though the videos are good resources, I still don't have a solution for this. This should be easy.

Unfortunately, this tool is a bit buggy, causing multiple crashes during edits. Complicates the learning curve.

Do you have this winder icon selected?

Oh yea...I've tried them all. It's a very complex tool. There are numerous settings that affect the outcome of a stair construction in ways that are unpredictable to the new user. I'm sure some things are better accomplished in edit mode than the original creation, but the complexity is even greater there.

I imagine we'll love this thing once we learn it. In the meantime, it's generating a lot of unbillable hours.

I can see we will need a lot of favourites and samples that we can copy settings from.

I think I have highlighted all the important settings.
I didn't lock to storey height and I set up the walls to be the exact size of treads and flight width plus the gap in the middle.

Just one small difference in the settings and it can be impossible to get what you want.
It is not quite as easy as it looks in the videos.

Sorry this is metric.

Barry.

Good job, Kelly! I was able to do it as well, and it's relatively easy to create if you have it pre-drawn with lines to click to. Creating it on the fly is not so easy, as I needed the narrow winder dimension to be exactly 6" for all four winders. That means I needed to pre-determine the exact starting point for each flight and winder. I'm sure a more generically created stair can be edited to the correct final form, but that will take more learning/experimenting.

Thanks for taking the time to look at this.

OK--New issue. I can't get the walking line symbol to orient properly with regard to the up/down text. The walking line should point up from the lower floor and down from the upper floor. Walking line always points in either the up or down direction, depending on setting, regardless of floor being viewed. Story sensitivity seems to be lacking.

Dave,

I do not see this option in the Walking Line component of the Stair.
Your only option now would be to modify its 2D GDL Script to add this capability.
