Zone tags not working in Version 9?

I set the pen colors and what I want to see for a zone tag and put one in. But the next one I put in is back to where I started with the settings not what I set it to. Please tell me I'm doing something cause this is frustrating as all heck!

I fixed it by changing the zone category style I was using in the pull down menu. Is this how it's going to work?? Yuck!
