creating cased openings

I know you can go from a cased door to an empty opening, but how can you draw a cased opening with no door??? i am on V12 and this seems like it should be a simple thing but i am at a loss.

Just use an empty panel.

Have you looked at the D Empty 12 door? It has the trim/casing options and no door leaf.

You should add a Signature to your Profile (click the Profile button near the top of this page) with your ArchiCAD version and operating system (see mine for an example) for more accurate help in this forum.
