how to extend trimmed walls

I have moved my roof in +Z and now my walls are too short as I had trimmed them to the lower roof before.
How do I extend them to meet the roof?
Thery are all already virtually higher than the new roof, but refuse to stretch.

Greatful for any hints, have spent >1h, now I just give up and go to bed instead.

select the problem walls
in the wall dialog " undo roof trim"
