question (possibly stupid) about merging lines / walls

I have a fairly rudimentary question about merging walls and lines, this is what i'm looking to do: say I have a line drawn, then rather than stretching that line I draw a new line from its end point to where I want the line to end now. This leaves two separate lines, which should really be one... how do I combine them? Can I do the same with walls? I know an obvious answer would be "why not just stretch the line or wall to begin with..." but thats not always possible, which is why i'm asking

Unifying (Tools>Unify) two lines creates a polyline. It behaves pretty much like a line does.

If you have two walls in a line, you can extend (Edit>Adjust)one wall and delete the other, but that is a lot of work.

Moreover ... the part that really is a lot of work: if there are windows/doors in each wall, then all of those windows/doors that are in the bit of wall to be deleted have to be inserted into the extended wall and lined up to the positions of the originals. A real pain. (And, if you had used the bits of walls in solid element operations, then you have even more work to duplicate.)

A working method for the windows/doors: shift-drag the to-be-deleted bit of wall perpendicularly away from it's alignment with the to-be-kept wall. Extend the to-be-kept wall, then eye-dropper each window or door in the to-be-deleted wall in turn and place in the extended wall, dragging and snapping to align with the original. Vertical re-positioning in section or 3D may be necessary. (E.g., one wall was continuous, the other a pony wall on top of a concrete wall and the 'unify' is because of a change in construction design... openings are relative to the base of the wall, not an absolute z.)

Unifying walls has been a long-time wish...

Thank you for understanding what I meant Karl Your method / work around is very helpful though, thanks a lot for the advice.. and I'll keep my fingers crossed for a unify wall tool
