Parametric Seating Layout

"Seating Layout" distributes seats in the 3D space considering the given C-Value, a parameter used in architectural design when designing theatre halls, opera buildings or stadiums and it creates a circular layout.

The objet located in ArchiCad's 3D environmentThe objet located in ArchiCad's 3D environmentThe overall height is calculated by the object considering the distance to the stage, the distance between the rows, the eye level of the viewer, the depth of the seat instances and the initial height to the stage.

As the initial height can be adjusted, multiple floors may be built by using the object more than once.

The list of all the adjustable parameters includes:

Horizontal Layout Parameters:

  • Angular range
  • Distance to the stage
  • Distance between the rows
  • Number of the rows

Parameters to Adjust the Height:

  • C-Value
  • Stage height (or the initial height mentioned above)

Seat Instance Settings:

  • Overall width, depth and height
  • Handrest width, depth, height
  • Seat height
  • Eye position (from the back edge of the seat instance)
  • The eye level

Other Features:

  • Visibilities of the elements in the 3D Script are optimised for clean sections/elevations
  • Graphical instructions are provided on the user interface.
  • Limitations were kept as least as possible, extreme values are allowed but crushes are prevented.
