2 different scaled views of the 1 drawing.... not working??

howdy

i have a drawing set-up in the project map that has certain info on it and scaled at say..... 1:50

from there i want to have 2 "view maps" views of that drawing.... 1 @ 1:50 with layer combo X and another view of it at 1:100 with layer combo Y

HOWEVER..... whenever i mavigate between the 2 viewsets the scale of the drawing does not change.... even though the viewset setting shows that view 02 is 1:100 it still shows at 1:50

if i change the projec map scale to 1:100... when i navigate to the view-map of view 01 it shows at 1:100 (and not 1:50)

round and round we go

is there something i am missing... or is this NOT the way to approach this problem?

any help/guidance/insight would be greatly appreciated

thanks

hmmm... weird

it is happening on 3 different machines (at least)... each one with a different "patch" number (970, 1040 and 1114)

seems odd that all of them would need reinstalling

I agree. But if you follow the procedure to the letter, and it still doesn't work for you , there must be something wrong at your place, either with the program or the project. It works here and for everybody I know.

i guess i must be doing something wrong in the way i set it all up then

this is happening in both single-user files.... on teamwork files.... on files where there are clones... in files where both of the views are simply saved views from the original independant section

if anyone could jot down step by step instructions that need to be followed to get this to work i would greatly appreciate it (or review the ones that i posted earlier and let me know if/where i am going wrong)

thanks

here are the steps i follow:
- create independant section @ 1:100 (shows up in navigator>prohect map)
- swap over to navigator>view map
- save current view as section 1:100
- save a seconf current view... this time setting scale to 1:50

both views source the original independant section create in step 1

however.... even though the view setting show the scales are different... when i activate the view... the scale in the bottom left of the drawing window still says that the view is set to the same scale as the drawing in the project map

i hope that this is clear

anyone?

thanks

I just tried it, and I have the same "problem". However, it seems the views maintain the correct scales that I set. It is just the display of the scale in the lower left hand corner that remains unchanged. If you click it though, it shows that the scale is correct in the pop up window. I think this must be a small bug that doesn't affect the actual work.

thanks for the reply

correct me if i am wrong...... but you will notice that the scale does NOT change.... it is particulary noticeable if you have text on each of the drawings (at different scales)... text is the best way of verifying that the view scale is fixed to the saved drawing scale and does not change between the 2 saved views

please test and the confirm/deny if you get a minute

thanks

I'm sorry I can't help you more. It seems to me that your description of what you're doing, + what I posted above, should be enough to make it work. Perhaps someone else has dome ideas?

any chance you could post here a minimal .pln file where you have this working (stffed/zipped)

i can then check it here to see if it is my install that is funked up

I did look at text to verify that the scale was indeed changing, but did it again here. If you click the scale button in the lower left hand corner, do you get a different scale (showing the correct scale) in the pop up window like I do?
