Auto-Dimensioning greyed-out

Can someone please tell me why my auto-dimensioning tool might be greyed-out/unavailable? The dimension layer is on.

Newbie here, I'm sure its something obvious I'm overlooking

Thanks for any help.

Try selecting everything you want to dimension first, and then going to the tool.
