Cleaning Up Properties

so i read somewhere that Properties, same with Attributes, have inherent Index Numbers. I'm planning on doing cleanup with the current set of Properties in our Template.

I'm looking to move some Properties into different Groups, as well as creating new Groups & moving existing Properties into them. I'll also be creating new Properties into new Groups. Now i also have some labels saved as Favourites that call up these Properties which are currently placed in old Groups.

If & when i do start moving these Properties around, how will this affect the already saved Favourites? If I decide to implement these changes to an existing project, how will it affect things? if it messes a lot of things up, I'm guessing that's not the play?
