Section/Elevation Markers & Renovation Tool

Why is the renovation feature greyed out for the section & elevation markers?
I would like to not display them for existing plan, but have them on for finished plan without another layer combination.
Or is that the only way?

Markers do not have this Renovation Filter parameter so they are displayed in all of plan views, layer combination is the only way.
