collecting / flattening layers ?

is there a way to select x amount of layers and "flatten them into one?

Not the way you would do it in Photoshop.

Turn on only the layers you want to combine. Select All. Change layer of selected elements to the layer required. Delete unwanted layers.

Of course you will want to make sure you do this in all views / stories / detail and other windows to make sure you get everything, before you delete the unwanted layers, as this action is not undo-able.
