Does any one knows if something similar is available in archicad 9?, or maybe a workaround?

Not sure about 9, but with 8.1 you can do something like this with the "Quick Layers".
Select the item and under the "Others" area, you can hide or lock the layers not selected. Then when done, click undo in the "Quick Layers" and the isolation is undone.
Hope this helps, and hope the feature is still in 9.

and you can also use 'active layer' alongside this to ensure any element is put onto that one layer. it can be found in the layers submenu and brings up a little palette with a toggle switch between your existing tool/layer setting and all of the tools being assigned the one layer.
it remembers the original settings when toggling back.
i think that this has been available since 8.0 at least . . .
and really get used to using 'quicklayers' - it is an incredibly powerful layer tool for use during editing . . .
