BIM Server back up and file management

I have been using ArchiCAD since version 9. The latest updates to Teamwork with use of the BIM Server are making the management of backing up teamwork files cumbersome for our small practice. The BIM server must be stopped at the end of each day to backup to our server, or an expensive script could be set up, though it may not be guaranteed to work. Otherwise if the BIM server machine were to crash our information would be lost. Also, there is no longer a .plp file that can be opened and the BIM software (which is not installed on all machines) is required to access any backup file management. What ways are firms using to file manage and maintain data security in Teamwork practice? It seems ArchiCAD could have the BIM server also save a .plp or .pln file for use in emergency situations and as additional security, any thoughts?

I am still using the manual technique of having the job captain save a project archive out every few days to our file server. Manual, prone to human error, and utter inelegant, but a solution that addresses the most important question to ask when developing a backup strategy... How easily can I recover when I am in a really upset and stressed mindset?

I am comfortable configuring cron scripts and we use Tolis' BRU backup system, but I don't usually press complex solutions against simple challenges. This task should be simple.

I hope this thread produces some

(brief editorial) This question reminds me that my reaction to the advent of BIM Server when it arrived was that Graphisoft was implementing a technology that required firms to hire system administrators right at the time firms were downsizing architectural staff. An unfortunate coincidence.
