Try this:
1. In the PhotoRendering Setting, check the Detailed Settings box, then go to Environment > Physical Sky > Sky and uncheck Sky.
2. Now uncheck the Detailed Settings box, then go to Background: Image and add the image you want for the background.
I don't know if disabling the Sky setting will affect other settings, but it is worth a shot.
