++ FREE ++ Cinema4D CE version for ArchiTALK Members

Not applicable
Working with Paul Babb - President and CEO of MAXON USA, I have helped to assemble a special offer for the worldwide members of ArchiCAD-TALK.

The product being offered is Cinema4D CE6 version - This version has some limitations but it is a great way to enter into the world of Cinema4D. It will allow you to get started without any expense in software, plus the work you do will be useful in the future when and if you decide to purchase an upgrade product such as C4D r9.

In order to take advantage of this offer you need to send an email message directly to Maxon USA at order-usa@maxon.net , make sure to put "PaulBabb-CE6" in the subject line. Within the body of the email give them your postal/shipping mailing address. That's it, soon your CD will arrive and you can register it. Also you will be offered the chance to upgrade ($99) it to Cinema4D CE+ which is a version that allows you to render at higher resolutions.

In summary:

Send an email to -- order-usa@maxon.net

Type this into the subject line: PaulBabb-CE6

In the message give them your mailing address. Might not hurt to let them know which operating system you use - Windows or Mac.

If you have questions, post them here at this thread and I will see that they are answered quickly.

Sincerely,

Mark Burginger

---------- --- Pros and Cons of C4D CE version. --- -----------

Pros:

(1) It will allow you to load 3ds exports from ArchiCAD
(2) It will allow you to SAVE your work. (fully compatible with later upgrade products such as C4D v9)
(3) It will allow you to RENDER and SAVE the rendered image without watermarks. (render size limited to 640 x 480 - see note*)
(4) It allows you to have several FREE C4D workstations that can work separately to create scenes, the work can be merged together later.
(5) Exports in several different formats including VRML2 - allowing your work to advance to other products such as WireFusion.
(6) Your special order via this offer will be ( Postage Free ) compliments of MAXON.

* note - You can upgrade CE6 to CE+ for $99 and remove the rendering size limitation during registration.

Cons:

(1) Not available online for instant download - you need to email your request for the CD and it will be sent to your- but at least the postage is free.

(2) This version of C4D will not work with the Maxon Plug-in product called, ArchiCAD eXchange. The newly released ArchiCAD eXchange plug-in allows you to work with both Cinema4D and ArchiCAD together so that you can update changes in the model from ArchiCAD without disturbing the lights, cameras, animations and materials defined in the C4D version of the project. This product really works great and I hope to post a full review of it soon.

(3) Of course it will not do radiosity rendering. Samples of what rendering quality it can attain will be posted here at this thread.

Consider this, Maxon is owned by Nemetaschek the makers of a competitive product for ArchiCAD. However, Maxon's main interest is in advancing the art of computer generated imagery. They have worked very hard to make their product open and compatible with a number of other modelling programs, ArchiCAD, Allplan, NXN Alienbrain, RPC, Vectorworks, etc.

Paul Babb admires the field of architecture and has promoted the development of a plug-in that allows more ArchiCAD users into the C4D arena.

Ok, ignore my previous post.
After scrolling through other posts in this thread, I understand that they get lots of requests and we're not supposed to hear any confirmation. I will wait for a few more weeks and hopefully I will find it on my door mat one day. I am willing to share some of my renders as soon as it arrives. Thanks!

After upgrading for CE+ will I have to wait for another CD or I will only receive a new password ?
Is it possible to upgrade to CE+ using the local reseller?
Are there any other method to make the payment other than using an international credit card? I don't have one.

I've just received my copy of Cinema 4D CE6 today. What a great surprise it was. I will try to make some architectural renderings and post them here within the next few days. Looks great with the 50grey plugin.

Here is my first try.

This was modelled entirely in ArchiCAD and imported into Cinema as 3DS. It took approximately 10 minutes to setup the lights, water texture (only cinema's internal bump mapping of its own water shader, some transparency and reflections, no bitmap textures) and tweak the 50grey plugin. I'm impressed at how fast this GI emulation plugin is!

The whole render at this resolution took only 01min29s! All I can say is that it's simply incredible. I know it's just a very quick sketch and it's far from realistic or finished, but still I think that's great you can create such images in just a few minutes.

I rendered it in viewport and then used print screen, ctrl+v into paint so this way I was able to achieve some extra pixels beyond the 600x400 limit. Still I think I will be upgrading to the CE6+ version for unlimited resolution in the nearest future.

What a generous offer, Maxon! This opens up new possibilities to many of us. Thank you very much, indeed.

Another of the same scene. No additional changes made, just a view from another angle. Wanted to see how water reflections work.

Top view. Now I can only think of what we can achieve for site plan renderings / sun study / interior plans.

Don't you just love the fast raytracer?

Combine this with high-poly cars and trees and simply insert the ArchiCAD model into it.

BTW, don't forget my own tutorial:

Once you use C4D you can't use anything else.. The speed is so important and a breeze to use with ArchiCAD 3ds files..

Thanks for the fun images, let's not stop there. Anyone else?

As for myself, I am working on an ArchiTerra terrain in preparation for a new project.

I know everyone knows about this great C4D site:

http://www.maxon.net/~deepshade/

but I just wanted to make sure.

Didn't find the answer?
