License Delivery maintenance is expected to occur on Saturday, November 30, between 8 AM and 11 AM CET. This may cause a short 3-hours outage in which license-related tasks: license key upload, download, update, SSA validation, access to the license pool and Graphisoft ID authentication may not function properly. We apologize for any inconvenience.

Google Earth connectivity add-on for ArchiCAD10

Not applicable
Dear All,

I am glad to inform you that the native ArchiCAD 10 compatible Google Earth add-on is available for download. Although, it is still in beta phase, we would like to share it with you, and ask for your contribution in the testing and evaluation process. Please, feel free to share your thoughts either in this thread or in a personal message. All comments are welcome, I am eager to get your feedback how we can make this tiny add-on as useful as possible.

Usage: The Google Earth – ArchiCAD data exchange is quite similar to Sketchup:

- Download the following file and unpack it:
GE Connectivity Add-on for Archicad 10

- Backup and then replace the “GSXML.dll” file in your ArchiCAD 10 folder and copy the “Google Earth In-Out.apx” under the [Add-Ons\Import-Export] folder.

- Download and install the latest Google Earth program (http://earth.google.com)

- Create Google Earth placemarks, polygons, or paths. (Polygons and paths can be generated from Google Earth Plus or Pro) and export them.

- In ArchiCAD you can either open or merge the Google Earth KMZ/KML file.

- Once you have positioned your model, switch to 3D view and save your work into Google Earth format.

It’s quite simple, isn’t it?

Note: Macintosh platform is not supported yet, but we will soon release the compatible version.

My post of Nov. 29th did not get a response. Can someone please look into this? I have a subdivision with over 100 homes, and want to use google earth. The PC download is not working right, usually can't export model, and issues with elements coming in from Google.

It seems that no one is using this plug in (because they are on Macs). Is anyone moderating that can look at my 11/29/06 posting. I did follow tips/tricks when I did efforts to get this to work.

The Add-on seems simple enough, it just doesn't work.

It seems that no one is getting this to work. I started this topic when I couldn't get it to work in Windows. Lacking any positive response I had to give up which was quite a disappointment.

I assume that somebody must have gotten this to work on some platform (whoever wrote it presumably). I wonder if the talk is just getting too large for GS to keep up on. It would be nice to get this sorted.

I had emailed tech support for Archicad last year, and they told me to post on talk to get developer to respond. Well that didn't work.

I was able to get landmark in- only 1. No polylines, etc. I really wanted to pull in polylines to get lines for trees location, but I don't think this was ever looked at. I was able to save out of AC9 1 building only to GE. Unfortunately, my project is many buildings and roads. I guess I could try saving as some Autocad 3d file, then open in sketchup to export, but I am not a Sketchup user.

This is very disappointing that no one seems to care to make this available. They should delete the add-ons rather than lead users to believe this is possible.

Someone at a client of mine told me yesterday that he had gotten it to work with no problem (on a small model). I'll try to find out more when I see him next week.

Matthew,
I got it work work once on a small model from ac9 to google earth too. The other file I had was 10 homes, in the file as objects with a mesh. I kept getting error messages and it would not save. I hope your friend has some insight on that.

which version of Google Earth do you need to have in order to use this add on.
