Having come from using a specific simpler housing design program in Chief Architect V10.
In the Chief Architect company union with Better Homes & Gardens, they have produced a range of software programs above than just having a client viewer as lots of CAD programs have today.
This BH&G series allows a client to view and full or limit edit a plan that was drawn in Chief Architect X1 Full version.
So for around $150.00AU or $125.00US a client can Buy a program Called BH&G Home Designer Suite 8 that can limit edit a plan by allowing the client to change colors, materials and add furniture. All layers are lockable and cannot be changed by your client.
Do we have anything like this yet?
Would it Help with PC literate users?
Will it help Clients make up their minds quicker?
What do you Architects think?
Kind Regards,
Manuel.

Thanks, I asked phone support for info on this and it was not clear on what to do.
Do you mean with or without markup?
Mark up does not let them change colors & materials or add furniture though?
The project reviewer is the program emailed with the file right?
Manuel.

I did say if we allow them to limit edit.
Great if you get paid as a lighting designer and or interior decorator
as well as color consulting or even landscape design.
This is for those clients who drag on & on & on, pedantic time wasters
who have no money or budget for specialist services or paying extras.
Do you get those?
Manuel.

If you have only seen 1 or 2, you have done very very well.
It would be good if you could screen test this type out and be able to see them coming from a mile away.
Thats why I think home design software even if limited may show them & others how much work goes into designing a building.
Then they might even realise that they need a pro to help them thru the design process.
But who minds if they spend hours of their own time having fun choosing colors furniture & materials.
Cheers,
Manuel.
