How can I export from AC9.0 to Epix File? (piranesi)

Is there any way to export a render created on AC, to epix file, for Piranesi?
I know it from Artlantis, but not from AC.

I hope someone help me.

Thanks

you will still need artlantis to create a epix file (as far as I know, there is no epix-out addon available) . the epix file contains informations about the distance of each pixel, so it is not a real 3d format. it works only with the view you have chosen.

It's always been there. See attached.

The deal is that you have to save from the 3D window. As you know, an Epix file has depth and material as well as RGB. If you are viewing a rendering window in ArchiCAD ... all you have is RGB. The only save options are to image formats. From the 3D window, you can save (export) to a whole variety of external 3D formats ... including Epix.

The other thing you need to know is that the current rendering settings are what will be used to determine the image size in pixels, which engine is used, etc. So, set that up before saving.

its obviously available in ac9.0 (your screenshot shows it ) and also in ac8.1, but not in ac7.0 (where i usually work)

I shouldn't get up so early....

Karl and Gerd, I can´t see on mac where to save from 3d window to piranesi, these is the list that showed to me, saving from 3d window. the second one is saving from the render. maybe it´s not available for mac, because piranesi first was made for windows. any way thanks, and let me try the second option you told me, for rendering settings. And keep saving my epix files from Artlantis.

Hi Gerd,

I won't ask why you usually work in 7.0 ...

But, from 7.0 someone can export as 3DS or other 3D format and open in Vedute (part of Piranesi package), and save the Epix from there. Of course, this will result in a shaded model with no textures ... useful only for generating Piranesi panoramas or NPR imagery.

Looks like Artlantis is the option for older versions to get Photorendered Epix, as you say.

Hi David,

Attached is a screenshot from my Mac showing the Piranesi option in the 3D Save dialog.

Since you do not see this, double check inside your ArchiCAD 9 application folder - look inside Add-Ons, then Import-Output and you should see a file called Piranesi. If you do not, then something went wrong in your installation. I am not positive, but I believe that the Piranesi import-output add-on ships with ArchiCAD itself. I do not believe that it is installed by Piranesi.

You do not need to reinstall to get the file to work. If the file is there, then inside AC, open Add-On Manager and find Piranesi to see if there is an error message. (If not, then I don't have a clue.) If the file is not there, then you just need to find the file (may have to reinstall, or get it from someone), copy it to that location, and restart ArchiCAD.

Karl, I´m very happy for your solution, Thanks a lot. I began working with AC since 6.0 but in spanish ver. , I know this is my native language, but I also prefer to work in english all the softwares that I use, I know that works better the software on english, when I made my upgrade to 9.0 I asked for the English version, firts it took a about 2 months aprox. to get it, but really it is worth, I had always doubts why on spanish ver, of AC6,7,8,8.1 had troubles, with compatibility. For example this theme of save as piranesi. I made what you told me, on applications, graphisoft, extensiones archicad(add-ons), importar-exportar, and there´s no piranesi file, like you see on the image, with AC9.0 Spanish, now with AC9.0 English it has it. second image.
