Interior Rendering

Im not very happy with this image.
The left wall is very dark but the furniture is very bright (im using a general light source with some recessed spots).
The ceiling looks better from my previous renderings but still...dont like it.

Any help is welcomed.

Perhaps those who have bought the book might help justify its price.

mm.. can i know what do u mean by "second-rate surfaces"?

English is not my native language

but i think Artlantis is quite good.. "actually more" regarding time... setting up the file ... full preview.. and render time ..?

or am i wrong?

I know a little bit about C4D , but i think its waste to use a huge program just for rendering part? and its not that fast and no active preview , and lightwave ? mm.. is it fast as artlantis? never used it actually?

A good rendering completed in time for the meeting is much better than a great one that isn't done. (This is why I use ArchiCAD rendering most of the time.) Of course when a great rendering is needed it is just a matter of realistic scheduling.

Any way .. when it comes to rendering softwares .. i like this part :

some one is looking at a picture and saying... wooow..what software you used for this?
you say "whateverware".. and a little bit of photoshop..

and he will think that this program is perfect!!

well we all know that with 3D max people are doing real cool stuff.. but for me? it was really hard even to install it!!!

and most of the users not getting a real good results.. i know its a perfect thing but no one mention something like .. is it easy to get this?

what i like about artlantis.. is that i met people that couldn't even say the word today " uhh .. what? atlantis? no..its artlantis " and the next day in evening they were having a really good renderings...

well i know that maybe you can't go more far than that.. but for most of architects ... that is more than enough... fast... good " enough" ... easy to learn

any way rendering is an art more than numbers and results!!

and i can remember dwights mother in law idea about rendering!!

US$115.00 is a bit expensive from my point of view. I am agree to buy a good book about mathematics or physics but I am not sure that equations are explained in yours ?
No, Dwight's book does not contain complex calculations. Instead, it is a full-color, spiral bound (great for laying flat on the desk) manual with both technical information on what settings do and practical situations where you can apply settings, both for serious photo-real work and for quick-and-dirty renderings.

Try the return on investment calculations: how long will it take you to look something up in Dwight's book (which is the only complete documentation on Archicad's implementation of Lightworks) versus figuring it out yourself.

I'm not sure in your region, but in the Philly area, that's not even 2 billable hours. You could easily spend days doing that yourself without the book. I'd rather spend that time working than guessing at what settings do.

Yes very important point. It should be therefore in the doc of archicad and free of charge since what is explained in the book is not suitable for another software. Graphisoft makes an interface, we pay for that, so the doc has to be with... point. And finally even if Dwight's book is original and well done the price is-for my point of view again-too expensive.

mm.. i don't know.. i mean for me i wouldn't say that .. although i didn't complete the book , but i could figure at least the lightning part which is the most important for me , and that i couldn't figure anything about by my self since the first version when LWRE implemented .

So for me? i don't think its expensive.. and by the way? the jokes in that book !! man i would pay double only for those

now back to buessines.. if you are not interested .. its ur right!! but its your own point of view and i respect it , and by the way try check graphisoft australia... they have a DVD teaching lightworks in Archicad.. never tried it..but it looks good
