Rendering options

Hi,

Ours is a medium firm and we want to render some plans.

We have 3 options.

1. Download some landscaping objects and create lightworks materials and render in lightworks.
2. Export 3D to Artlanties and set some shadings and add some objects and render in Artlaties studio.
3. Export 3D to PhotoShop and Render in PhotoShop.

Which is the best option?
Which takes less time to prepare for render?
Which takes less time to render?
Is there any other options do I have?

Ranga.

Don't forget Piranesi:

You said "plans", but if you intend to render all kinds of views, then I prefer Artlantis. If you really mean only plans, I would consider Piranesi or Photoshop - but each of these requires re-doing all of your work if the plan changes a lot, where a true rendering (1 or 2) involves much more set-up, but you can quickly regenerate images as the model changes.

I just started chatting with a local user that exports his models as a .3ds file and uses Kerkythea. He's produced some really nice looking stuff. Don't know anything more beyond that. But it's free and probably worth a look. Anyone else know anything about this?

I watched the Kerkythea video tutorials and
see that it will "Import 3DS, OBJ and SIA files"

I'd like to ask a stupid question.

I see in the goodies section there is a AC12 add-on for 3ds-in.
Anyway to get a 3ds out?

Hi Lec,
you know there are no stupid question
But just go to the 3D Window and choose File/Save as and select the 3ds output. This option is built-in in ArchiCAD.

Thanks for not smacking me down MS. (Even though I deserved it)
Well it may have not been a dumb question but the operator was being dumb.
That's what I get for doing the quick look over and missing it.
