Animation Question: Animated CAT scan through a building

I'm interested in creating an animation similar to the one Graphisoft has used for years on their website.

Is there a way to create an animation that shows a cutting plane passing through a building in the 3D window. This would be like a series of CATscan images of the building as the cutplane moves from one end to the other.

Any suggestions appreciated.

There was some discussion about this a few years back, it might be worth checking out:

Thanks for the pointer. I tried a search for this but really wasn't sure of what terms to use. Merci mille fois!

Aaron, another possibility is stitching single rendered images into a .gif in photoshop, kind of like this discussion only through sections instead of building up.
