VRML compression ???

Hi all,
I'm trying to export a VRML world file yet it shown to be to large (about 70mb). Is there a way which the file could be compressed down ??? my aim is to have it around 10-15 mb.

leave out things (furniture, 3D trees)

set the "resolution" for GDL objects to a lower setting (unfortunately, this is object specific, so would take a while to correct)

use dedicated software to compress 3D surface meshes (e.g. Vizup) to use less faces. Might distort the 3D models.
