Add option for some properties to remain hidden

gap
Booster

We often create properties that are used in the calculations of other properties. These must be linked to the same elements for the calculations to work. Thus, the entries in the list of properties of the relevant tools increase unnecessarily. It would be useful to be able to set the visibility of properties in the relevant directory within the property manager.

It would be even better if parameter visibility could be calculated based on the values of other parameters (conditional parameter visibility)

Hello,

Thank you very much for your wish!
This could be a great addition to the software, so I made an entry under WISH-13449.

Hopefully we can see it implemented soon!

Best regards,

Thank you for the suggestion. This wish is now "under consideration" as we're investigating plans for properties and data. Do you have examples where properties should be completely hidden to the user, as opposed to locking the value?

A property that is visible to the user must be modifiable and should be verified by this user.

Locking a value that is not important: too much data to review so the data won't be verified.

Some examples:

-End user should only see necessary properites for the current design phase, without having to delete properties that will be needed later (Repetive work + property duplication risk ). You see a property? You should pay attention to it  . In the end, it is the same goal as the property visibility manager by BimDots: https://bimdots.com/product/property-visibility/ , visibility according to the design phase need.

-Properties that will be used for intermediate calculations and should'nt be seen.

You begged for it! 😁

This is (a shopped-together) screenshot of all our door properties.

This reflects ~30 years of our offices work with door schedules on projects with thousands of doors, some of them on the scientific side like:

"Oh - you got a laser in your lab? Then we need extra nonreflective surfaces on frame & leaf & handle!"

"Huh - bio-hazard you say? This one shoud better be air tight..."

From blue to red is the input part for the user/planner/designer,

from red to end are calculations which end up in schedule or labels.

So it's about 50/50 visible/hidden when it comes to door editing.

Due to other - eh - AC shortcomings, some user input and almost all calculations are hierarchical.

The option sets for user input mostly contain "abbr. - explainig comment" like "ODC - Overhead door closer".

In schedule and label you'll only see "ODC".

This ODC can be installed on either side of the door and on both leafs or only the main leaf, it might have a mechanism to keep the door open, which in case of fire has to be released... Zillions of combinations which can't be presented in one single option set but have to be clicked together in bits and pieces.

So my 2ct would be:

- show/hide only via property manager (for groups and properties)

- collapsed groups per default (prop man), but switchable per AC session/per user with open/half-closed/closed eye beneath the group name

- conditional for sub-options like:

-- material: wood/metal

---- material sub metal: steel/aluminium...

---- material sub wood: ash/oak...
